The work will be a lecture and presentation with a showing of images about ?State Britain? from Mark Wallinger and a short movie (www.faithtube.com/item/BH4LG89B7VGFLRL8).
The art work of Mark Wallinger: "State Britain" is a reconstitution of the display of tireless anti-war activist Brian Haw. For five years, Haw placed placards, flags, messages, quotations, pictures, and newspaper clippings across from the British Parliament, initially to protest the economic sanctions against Iraq, then to denounce the UK's involvement in the Iraq war.
Legislation was adopted in 2005 to restrict such protests within proximity of Parliament, and police dismantled the display. Mark Wallinger, as a witness to the controversy, recreated the display in its entirety for Tate Britain.
