Most of the Favelas in Rio de Janeiro are currently in the stage for a war between police, militia and the overwhelming drug traffic streams. What the inhabitants of the famous beautiful part of the city can see about so close but faraway territories are images of violence shot by a bunch of guerilla photographers that follow the police during the incursions.

Bergamaschi proposed to several photographers who live in favelas to retract interiors (houses, workplaces, bars) within their communities. The projection of their everyday life on our accessible interiors is a copy and paste operation that wants to merge two really faraway geographies.

Photographers:

Chantal James, Elisângela Leite, Ingrid Cristina, Jucemar Alves, Paulo Rodrigues, Silvana Medeiros.
